Mother Earth Baby specializes in cloth diapers and accessories for your little ones, along with many other eco-friendly, natural baby and mom products. Not only do they have their website for you to shop their vast array of brands available, but they also have a brick and mortar store located in Oswego, New York. Mother Earth Baby was started in 2008 as a wonderful compliment to their existing family business, Mother Earth Health Foods. This health and wellness store, located in North Syracuse, New York, was started in 1969 and also has a cloth diaper boutique inside too. If you're in New York, that means there's TWO locations for you to check out cloth diapering products first hand. Sometimes there's nothing quite like experiencing cloth diapers first hand, and it's wonderful that Mother Earth Baby exists to serve the needs of natural mamas in their area!
Check out the inside of the Mother Earth Baby store. Oh how I wish they were local to me! Mother Earth Baby generously sent me a pair of Imse Vimse Organic Cotton Training Pants from their store to review. These are the Junior size and fit 35-44 lbs. These training pants are made with organic cotton knit on the outside in an adorable farm print.
The inside is absorbent organic cotton terry with an extra sewn-in layer throughout the entire wet zone from front to back. There is a hidden layer of PUL which will hold a small accident. The organic cotton terry is very soft, and will definitely allow your little potty trainer to feel any wetness that may occur so a run to the potty can happen. These are recommended for day use only, and I definitely agree with that since there isn't too much absorption in just the 2 layers of organic cotton terry to work for nighttime. I did let Buddy wear these for a nap and he soaked through like crazy! It's really my fault though since he's only dry during naps a little more than half the time right now, and this will happen with pretty much all training pants anyway. You can always add more absorption in any trainer, but I also really liked the suggestion of just putting a diaper cover over these as added protection. I would have never thought of that and will definitely be trying this!
In case of a small accident though, these should tide you over and keep their jeans dry until you can reach the potty and change their trainers. In the photo on the right above, you can see how the seam between the organic cotton terry and leg trim is serged together. This gives a little gusset in case of an accident, so if it's a small one it will all stay contained inside and have a chance to absorb. Definitely a smart feature!
The legs are a soft stretchy ribbed trim with a very tiny, thin elastic inside that I could barely feel. This helps to keep the legs snug, but really allows them to be comfortable and not cause any red marks that a larger, stronger elastic can sometimes cause. The elastic waist on the right is very soft and not too constricting at all. These wash like a dream and take just slightly longer to dry than the rest of my laundry. Because there is no hemp or microfiber, they are definitely faster to dry than other trainers. And since they're cotton, it's relatively quick in comparison.
These do seem to have a higher rise than other trainers I own and have reviewed before, but that just means they stick out of Buddy's pants at the top. That's okay since they're totally adorable! Otherwise they are very trim and almost as trim as just underwear. They seem to lay flat on his body and not look poofy at all. These trainers are definitely ones that I would recommend for little ones who are dry most the time during the day, but aren't quite ready for regular underwear like Buddy. We're close though! Very close! They seem very comfortable on Buddy and I love that it's only super soft organic cotton touching his skin! As my first experience with Imse Vimse training pants, I'm definitely impressed.
